What Happens After Your ADHD Insurance Is Verified

“We verify your insurance before your visit” is a phrase you’ll see throughout our site — but what does that process actually involve, and what happens once it’s done?
Why verification happens first
Insurance benefits vary enormously between plans, even within the same insurance company. Two people with “Blue Cross Blue Shield” can have completely different copays, deductibles, and covered-session limits depending on their specific employer plan. Verifying ahead of time means you’re never caught off guard by a bill that doesn’t match what you expected.
What we check
- Whether your specific plan is in-network
- Your copay or coinsurance for a behavioral health visit
- Whether your deductible has been met for the year
- Any prior authorization requirements, if applicable
What happens after verification
Once your insurance is verified, your appointment is confirmed and you’ll know your expected cost before your visit — not after. If there’s an issue with your plan (out-of-network, unmet requirements, etc.), we’ll reach out with your options before anything is scheduled, so there’s no wasted trip or surprise charge.
How long it takes
Verification is typically completed within about an hour during business hours, though it can occasionally take longer depending on your insurance provider’s response time.
